More Scans

I got a few pages to scan from Seth at the EFF, and I figured I’d throw them up here for viewing. Thanks to DC for hosting the bandwidth and storage for these scans. You can download them at http://www.carne.sys-techs.com/images_mirror/.

I also included a few post-processed swatches for people to look at. I did an experiment this weekend where I took two Docucolor 12’s and printed a few pages on them, spaced about a minute apart each. The results can be found at the above mirror, or you can view swatches of them below. I found that you can view the copier’s serial number through its front-panel menuing system so the scans are organized by serial number. The EFF’s scans are organized by a code (B1-B6) that I’m not quite sure what they correspond to, I’ll have to ask. Some of the printers had very faint watermarks, even under the blue lighting. Perhaps I need to tweak the lighting system to enhance their contrast…

Not sure if this is possible as this is all a bit over my head, but why not make it easy on yourself and replace the hard-to-see yellow toner with something a bit more contrasty; say, black?

    Fascinating reading nonetheless!

Been a while since I’ve checked our your blog. As usually, you’ve been a busy boy.

Considering the point of those watermarks are probably to track potential counterfeiters, you can probably be successful by distributing dollar-bill sized swatches of scans.
