Name that Ware, July 2022

The Ware for July 2022 is shown below.

This is yet another fine ware contributed by jackw01. I kind of like how the board on the left went straight from bringup to production, without any attempt to strip out the debug headers or JTAG ports. Which is totally fine, btw: why change something that already meets spec, and might even be helpful with improving yields?…I just have to resist the urge to plug something into said ports.

This is a set of control boards from an Ricoh G167, although the pictures I can find seem to have a different board on the left (if you search for the service manual, it’s page 48)

The Parts Catalogue actually lists these as “Engine Board” and “Controller Board”

Laser printer was my first thought based on the motor drivers and sheet metal construction. Also nice demonstration of how image scaling can undo pixelation.

Yep! I initially thought HP, though, since I’ve seen that unusual RAM module slot on HP devices before. Once I found a Ricoh service manual with the model number on it and it lined it, it became clear that perhaps there had been an easier way!!

If you get the service manual from https://hugepdf.com/download/ricoh-g183-service-manual-2_pdf, then it looks like this version has the PCL controller board on page 3-43.

Looks like the laser controller that was in my 1990s trotec laser
